Objective:

·        Use five senses to observe the qualitative properties of matter.

·        Use tools (ruler, balance, measuring cup/graduated cylinder, stopwatch, thermometer) to measure quantitative properties of matter in metric units (meter/centimeter, gram, liter/milliliter, Celsius, Fahrenheit).

Essential Question:

·        How can we use our senses to describe matter?

·        How can we use tools to describe matter?

Science:

Activity: What are Physical Properties?

In today’s lesson, the teacher will start by going over an interactive lesson that reviews the physical properties of matters.

Students and I will then identify the properties of matter through an activity that the interactive lesson provides, in which they will sort the different properties of matter.

Students will then work on brain check and sum it up portion of the HMH science book

Objective:

Describe how the rotation of Earth and apparent movement of the Sun, Moon, and/or stars are related.  Identify that the pattern of stars appears to shift across the sky nightly or that different stars can be seen in different seasons.

Essential Question:

What are stars? · Why do the patterns of the stars appear to shift in the night sky? · Why are there different phases of the moon?

Science:

How does Earth move in Space

In today’s zoom meeting students will start with the problem of the day! Students in this lesson will learn about the different constellations that we see on a nightly basis.

Students will also learn about how the Earth is constantly in motion, how long it takes to it completely rotate, how long it takes the moon revolve around the Earth.

Students will understand this concept with the use of models provided by the interactive lesson.
