Objectives: Student will be able to solve real world problems involving volume.

Essential Question: Identify the strategies you can use to solve a world problem involving volume.

Lesson: Volume Word Problems

Classwork:

Teacher will start zoom meeting modeling how to apply the volume formula word problems and how to use inverse operations to solve for the missing unit.

Students and I will then practice these to strategies to complete word problems with volume provided from performance matters worksheet.

Students will then work on their own using Khan Academy as a supplemental resource to reinforce these strategies.

Help Resources:

No need to print out the performance matters packet, as we will be reviewing it as a class during the zoom meeting.

Volume = Length x Width x Height

Volume = Base (L x W) x Height

Lesson: Volume of a Rectangular Prism

Objective: Student will be able to find the volume of a rectangular prisms using various strategies.

Essential Question: Identify the strategies that could help you find the volume of a rectangular prism.

Classwork:

Teacher will be reviewing a couple of formulas of volume. To find the volume of a shape, you have to find the measurement of the length, width, height or find the base (W x L) then multiply it with height.

Class will review this using the find a volume tutorial from Go Math! Student and I practice applying this formula (V = L x W x H) to several rectangular prisms to find their volume.

Students will then apply this formula to find the volume of rectangular prisms on the on your own portion of the worksheet.

Homework:

Istation Math 30 min.

Reflex Math 30 min or green light.

Help Resources:

No need to print worksheet, completing and show working on paper is fine.

All work needs to be submitted through the educational network on a daily basis.

In this video it will go into depth on how to find the volume of a rectangular prism using the formula V = L x W x H.

Lesson: Volume

Objective:  Students will be able to use unit cubes to express the volume of a solid figure.

Essential Work: How can you use unit cubes to find the volume of a rectangular prism?

Classwork:

In the beginning of the zoom lesson, i will start off explaining what one of the formulas of volume. To find the volume of a shape, you have to find the measurement of it's length, width, height and then multiply them together.

Student and I will practice applying this formula to several figures in the share show portion of the lesson (no need to turn the share and show portion as it something we worked on together).

Students will then apply this formula to complete several exercises of finding the volume of several rectangular prisms in Khan Academy, using it as supplemental resource to reinforce strategy.

Step 1:

Students will begin class following alongside an interactive tutorial going over three-dimensional figures.  In the beginning of the tutorial I will go over the vocabulary of the lesson, covering the attributes of the varying three-dimensional figures.

Step 2:

Students alongside the teacher will classify the three-dimensional figure into either being a cone, cylinder, prism, pyramid, sphere depending on the figure's attributes.

Step 3:

Complete problems 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the Share and Show section.

Complete problems 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 in the On Your Own section.

Helpful Resources:

Watch the following video about how to identify three-dimensional figures.

Classwork:

Step 1:

Students will follow along with the interactive student tutorial of the lesson of Triangles. In the beginning of the student interactive tutorial. Teacher will discuss the vocabulary of the lesson. I will go over the different ways to classify triangles by length of their sides and how to classify triangles by measurement of their angles.

Step 2:

In the student interactive tutorial, we will practice identifying triangles by the length of their sides (ex. Equilateral, isosceles, scalene) and by the measurement of their  angles ( ex. Right, acute, obtuse).

Lesson: Polygons

Objective:  Student will be able to classify and identify polygons by their attributes.

Essential Question: Identify the attributes that will help you classify regular polygons and  not regular polygons.

Classwork

Step 1:

Teacher will introduce an interactive student tutorial of the lesson of Polygons. In the beginning of the lesson teacher will go over the vocabulary of the lesson. Then introduce the attributes that make a polygon a regular polygon and the attributes that make a polygon an irregular polygon.

Step 2:

We will practice identifying  whether polygons are regular polygons or irregular polygons..

To determine if it is a regular polygons, the polygon has to have all congruent sides and angles.

If it does not have all congruent sides or does not have all congruent angles, it will be identified as an irregular polygon.

Step 3:

Complete the problems in the On Your Own section ( problems 5,6 7, 8 , 9 and 10)

Below you will find the attached classwork assignment:Polygon lesson.

Helpful Resources

Take a look at the vocabulary of the lesson that will be provided in the anchor chart. It will help with identifying that attributes of a regular polygon and an irregular polygon.
